What is the Difference Between Static and Dynamic Codes

Updated over a week ago

Static QR codes and Dynamic QR codes have different purposes and distinct characteristics. Let's break down the differences between the two:

Static QR codes:

Static QR codes contain fixed information that doesn't change once the code is generated. Once created, the content of a static QR code cannot be modified without generating a new QR code. These codes are best suited for scenarios where the linked content remains constant over time, such as sharing a website URL, Wi-Fi, or essential information.

Dynamic QR codes:

Dynamic QR codes, however, allow the content to be changed even after the QR code has been generated and distributed. You can update the destination URL or other content without reprinting or redistributing the QR code. Dynamic QR codes offer greater flexibility and tracking capabilities compared to static codes. This makes it possible to compile scan data, such as the total number of scans, the date, time, and place at which each scan was performed, and the operating system used.
